the Types of Road Bike Tire
Clincher - uses a bead that sits inside the edge of the rim. Traditional clincher setups use an inner tube inside the tire, which can be quickly and easily replaced if a flat occurs.
Tubeless - A newer form of road bike, tubeless also has the bead inside the edge of the rim, but without the need for an inner tube to inflate. Tubeless tires offer many advantages: lower tire pressures for greater comfort and grip; liquid sealant instead of an inner tube, no risk of a flat; and easy maintenance. PipeTube- Used almost exclusively in racing, as there is no inner tube and the tire is glued directly to the rim, it must be used with tubulars. Tubulars are lightweight and comfortable to ride, but can be expensive and difficult to maintain. |
