Undeniably European e-bike sales took a step back last year. In 7 European countries which have already reported their market statistics for 2023, the total volume decreased by 8%, from 4,555,264 units in 2022 to 4,178713 last year.
The differences between the 7 countries; Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Switzerland and Belgium, are remarkable. For example, Italy reported a decline in e-bike sales volume of 19% while the market in Germany was down only 5% to 2.1 million units, while in the Netherlands the total volume in 2023 ended at 453,000 units (-7%). |
